What kinds of tutorials are out there for geographic modeling?

Not GIS but stuff like this: http://www.gis.uiuc.edu/

I know of ArcView and that 3D analyst for ArcGIS but it won't let me try it out.

I'm just looking for a book or online tutorial. What kinds of tutorials are out there for geographic modeling?

The website you link to *is* GIS.

If you go to the E.S.R.I. website (http://training.esri.com/gateway/index.cfm?fa=catalog.gateway) they have some free courses which are usually 5-6 modules on the specified subject.

If you want to try some things out there is GRASS ( http://grass.itc.it/) which was developed by the military and is free. It performs spatial analysis ( like the pictures on the website you put up).

That with the E.S.R.I. courses should be a good start. The navigation for the programs is different but the concepts are the same.
